God's Word Bible

God's Word translation is a very accessible version that uses modern english but stays faithful to the original text. It reads well and is useful for personal devotions, study and preaching. Some people may be annoyed at the absence of Christian jargon such as justification, sanctification and Redemption, but the use of simple everyday language means that the listener is not switched off by unfamiliar terms. The only caveat I would give is that it is an American translation and uses the word dollars in one parable. I just change this to pounds the overall meaning is not changed. This particular edition has wonderfully clear print in a very portable sized Bible. It is not plagued with the craze for red letter editions. A concordance is available for this translation, as are other devotional and study aids. I would warmly recommend it.
