Rob Bell is, to my mind, one of the leading Bible teachers in the world today. His pastoral ministry to Christians not only provides refreshing insights into the Bible but challenges one to see things from a new perspective. This talk on Suffering is a case in point. Rob sets aside the Why do we suffer question in order to ask the much more important one What can we gain IN our suffering. Its true that you will have to a bit of work in thinking through the issues - but this will reward you richly. Robs humerous, caring yet forthright approach enables us to see that in all forms of suffering we should be looking to see how God is shaping us, moulding us and teaching us lessons we could not learn anyother way. His practicle illustrations will stay with you for a long time. (Its amazing, for example, what you can get out of bar of soap!) For me the highlight of this 2hr presentation is when he asks the question of the Cross of Jesus and his suffering - Is the Cross God's way of saying I know how you feel? Deeply moving at times, very practile at others you wont even notice the time passing. I had the privellege of hearing (and meeting) Rob when he came to London in March 2010 and gave this presentation at the Central Hall, and watching it again has made me aware that of all I gained that night. Suffering is awful and Rob acknowledges that in a realistic way, but suffering can be a means to an end. This excellent dvd will be a great blessing to all who are in pain or dealing with those going through tough times. As one who has served as a Pastor I can not recommend Rob Bell's ministry highly enough. As one who has also experienced suffering in differnt forms I can only say that God really did speak to me through this talk and its the best I've ever heard on the subject. Buy it now - for yourself and for those you know who are really going through it. Highly recommened.
