The book Fear Not by Max Lucado. Is this suitable for a boy of ten years. If not, can you recommend a book for a boy of this age who suffers from anxiety.
Hi Lynn.
This book is written for an adult audience. I have looked around to no avail. Not only on Eden, but wider there is nothing for a 10 year old.
(Future suggestion: Whilst is not a Christian novel, and is more appropriate for ages 14+, I strongly recommend 'Turtles All the Way Down' by Young Adult Fiction author John Green. I have yet to find a book whose honest and insightful depiction of anxiety, OCD, and mental health difficulties are as acute in their debilitating spirals as they are in Green's book. But, it is definitely a book for an older reader.)
I think you may have wandered into that rarest of things, a gap in the published world.
I'm sorry I was unable to find what you were looking for. The best I can do is suggest a diet of wide reading. Start with C.S.Lewis's Narnia books, and then follow from there. Anxiety often takes the form of a dominant voice/image that imagines all the worst outcomes. Reading is the best antidote I have ever found to anxiety. It largely doesn't even matter too much what is read. As long as I am reading, I feel calmer and less under the thumb of anxiety.
I hope that this has been of some help.
