St Peter's (Parish of Great Berkhamsted)
Here at St Peter's we aim to give glory to God through Jesus Christ and in the power of the Holy Spirit by: - the offering of our best in worship - encouraging and providing opportunity for all, both young and old, to grow in their experience, knowledge and love of God - witnessing to God's love in the world through service to the parish and community. Our main Sunday services are: 8.00am Eucharist (1st Sunday BCP) 9.30am Family Sung Eucharist 6.00pm Evensong Weekday services: Eucharist at 11.00am Thursday and 9.15am Friday. In addition to the regular services above, we hold monthly Healing Services and occasional Taize-style services, and principal Feast Days and Holy Days are observed. Groups and activities include: Creche, "Little Fishes" Parent & Toddler Group, Sunday School, Pathfinders, Youth Fellowship, Mothers' Union, Tuesday Club, Sundays Together Lunch Club, Saturday Coffee Morning, Cowper Society, Home Group, Bellringers, Emmaus. We use the NRSV Bible, and the "New English Hymnal" and "New Hymns and Worship Songs". Our electoral roll totals 342. Normal Sunday attendance is around 220. All Saints Church in Shrublands Road, Berkhamsted is also part of the Parish of Great Berkhamsted. It is a Local Ecumenical Partnership between the Anglican and Methodist congregations. Sunday morning services at All Saints are joint Anglican/Methodist. The post of Rector is vacant at present. The Parish Office is in The Court House, Church Lane, Berkhamsted, Herts. St Peter's Church dates back to the early 13th century and, being open throughout the day, provides a place of quiet and prayer in the heart of the town.
