    Product Description

A new 'fault-line' is dividing Christians who disagree about Islam. A spectrum of opinion exists, ranging from strident voices which de-emphasise the Great Commission in favour of theological confrontation and political action to the building of relational bridges for the communicating of the gospel. At worst the extremes range from hostile to the naive. Between Naivety and Hostility aims to fill a gap in a media marketplace saturated by stories about "out-of-control" immigration, the contradictory faces of Islam and the aggressive behaviour of some Muslims.

    Between Naivety and Hostility

This absorbing book is a very useful resource for any Christian who wants to engage with Muslims in the UK in a thoughtful and loving way. As the title suggests, its twenty contributors try to present a 'middle way' - not taking the line that Islam is nothing to be concerned about, or going to the other extreme of fearing Islam and Muslims and avoiding all contact with them. All the writers have been active in witnessing to Muslims about all that God has revealed and done in Jesus Christ; but they have also been engaged in a deep and sustained dialogue and in humble and loving service to their Muslim neighbours. It is out of this wealth of experience that they speak on such topics as varied as: Thinking Biblically about Islam; Conversion from Islam to Christianity in Britain; The case for polemics and The case for dialogue.
Although each chapter is on a different subject I felt there was a unity about the book because every contributor is passionate about their faith and their desire to build relationships of trust and respect with Muslims.
