Beloved of the Lord

This is a book to be read slowly and thoughtfully, then mulled over and read again. The author writes from experience of working with the people of the sub-title People Living With Special Educational Needs, and Their Carers Her reflections are heartfelt and emotional, incorporating quotations from the Bible, the prayers often with a specific person in mind. You cannot read any of this without feeling deeply effected. I felt that it would be of value as much to those of us who live alongside these people as for the target readership of the title.
(I did have to look up the meaning of one word – anawim is a Hebrew word meaning ‘The poor seeking God for deliverance’.)
The last third of the book is ‘Resources, helpful organisations and useful information.’ Not just the website list you might expect but for instance the ‘Mission Statements’ of particular schools, some Christian faith services and an excellent and really helpful section of ‘Clinical information on some disabilities’ followed by other information and then, yes, a list of useful websites.
A difficult book to categorise but one I am very glad to have read.
