What is marriage? What has gone wrong? What is the purpose of the human race? Who owns the children? How should they be raised? Do children need salvation? What happens to a child who dies young? Should young children be baptized? Does God relate to families or individuals? Does the family have a leader? Does the church have a part to play? Is singleness an inferior state? What about mixed marriages? Is lovemaking outside marriage wrong? What about same-sex attraction? Can Christians divorce? These are some of the questions this book deals with. With families breaking down all around us, the author says some important things on the foundations of Christian family and how to make it work.
David Seccombe holds the PhD from Cambridge University. From being pastor of St Matthew's Anglican Church in Perth Western Australia, he moved in 1993 with his wife Lorraine and their four children to Cape Town, South Africa, where he led George Whitefield College through the post-apartheid years to becoming a leading theological centre for the African continent. David and Lorraine live in Perth, where he continues to teach, preach and write.
