Never mind the technicalities of translation styles and this or that kind of 'equivalence'. This is a Bible you can actually read -and it has pictures!

Before we got snobby about things like NIVs, NLTs and the retro NKJV, this was everyone’s favourite – especially if you were working with children, young people and the new to faith. Then beans got above sticks (as we say in Lancashire), and now the GNB is dismissed as a children’s Bible. Well lucky kids, I say; you not only have the easiest reading Bible there is, you also have a Bible with pictures – colour pictures!

And so what if it has such a bright cover that every leather bound KJV bearer in your stuffy church knows what you’re reading? And what if, in a read-around, no one can follow in their NIV what you read out from your GNB? Whose loss is that? Be proudly simple, I say. This is still the best non-paraphrased Bible out there for straightforward reading, whoever you are! And if it’s meant kids, who wants to grow up, anyway? I give it twelve zillion stars. I know it's supposed to be out of five; but it's supposed to be only for kids, remember?
