The Stray - Review

The Stray - Review

The Stray is a wonderful true story that brings across the importance of love, hope, faith and family.

The film tells the true story of a stray dog who appears out of nowhere and makes himself at home with the Davis family, who are on the edge of falling apart. Mitch is putting his film writing career ahead of his marriage and family. Michelle is trying to raise their three children. Their nine year old son Christian is struggling to make friends and has a broken relationship with his father. After some prayer, Pluto the wonderdog appears and helps to repair the broken family and really get them back on track and save their lives.

The film has been written, produced and directed by the real Mitch Davis, so this really is a first-hand re-telling of one part of his and his family’s life which was dramatically changed and saved by Pluto, the stray dog.

The Stray - Review

The acting from Sarah Lancaster and Michael Cassidy is fantastic and they really bring their characters to life. We can feel their emotions and struggles, which makes the film feel real. The dog who plays Pluto is perfectly cast and really carries the story as only a dog sent from God can.

There is something for everyone in The Stray, with people of all ages being able to relate to a part of the story. There are many lessons within the film including putting family first and making time for them, trusting and seeking God and also touches on dealing with death. This is an exciting, family-friendly film, that will have you laughing, crying and really feeling the struggles within the family. It is also quite emotional in places, especially for those who had their own ‘wonderdog’.

The Stray is an inspiring and heart-warming true story that brings home the importance of family, faith and trusting God. We see that God can send and use the unexpected (even a dog) to help save you and give you hope, so be prepared to see God answer your prayers and expect the unexpected.

The Stray is due for release 29th June 2018.
