Indescribable

If you’re a fan of anything space related, spend a lot of time wondering about how many stars are in the universe and subsequently how very small we really are and how big God really is then this is the book for you.

Many will be familiar with the Louie Giglio DVD Indescribable that came out in 2008, a wonder-inspiring Passion talk on God’s wonderful creation of the heavens and the Earth. Indescribable uses scientific facts and illustrations that will blow your mind, and ultimately make you reflect in awe about an amazing God who created all things and desires us to have a relationship with Him.

So what’s new…

Indescribable the book is not only a stunning coffee table paperback edition packed full of incredible pictures of space, nebulas, stellar clusters and the galaxy but is also full of wisdom from co-authors Louie Giglio and worship leader Matt Redman. Both admit to having a love of all things space so they joined forces and Indescribable has become the by-product, as two minds bring together their thoughts and reflections on the very big universe that we live in.

Image of the World

It’s true the stars can be ignored. But it’s also true that they can lead us to wonder…and to their Maker.

Divided into 16 chapters each reflects on the cosmos in light of the creator God, with fascinating facts about the universe we are a part of. Chapter headings include: Beginnings, Indescribable, Stop and Consider, Far Out, Night Light and Beyond. Each is a few pages long and includes both images and personal reflections from the authors.

Both Matt Redman and Louie Giglio give personal testimony to their experiences, when they have been stopped in their tracks by the wonder of creation. In the chapter entitled: Lost in Wonder, Louie Giglio recounts his experience of seeing the Northern Lights and rushing back to his hotel room to ring his wife to tell her, despite it being in the middle of the night!

Though neither author professes to be an expert when it comes to the cosmo,s their passion and excitement for discovery and fascinating facts on space is pretty infectious and will have you flicking through to learn more. Stunning colour photos have been provided from NASA, from full page spreads, to incredible images that get up close and personal with the sun. Keen to acknowledge those that helped with the facts, contributors include Dr Jennifer Wiseman who currently holds the role of Senior Project Scientist for NASA’s Hubble Space Telescope and a whole host of past and present astronauts.

“The book before you will lift your eyes to the skies, expand your mind, and refill your spirit with a new sense of the grandeur and awesome character of God”

– Jenifer Wiseman, astronomer, author, and speaker.

But wait it’s not just a book…

To add to all the great images, and inspirational thoughts you also get a copy of Louie Giglio’s DVD Indescribable, a 43 minute talk from the Passion series helpfully placed in the back of the book!

If you have budding scientists in your family or older children who can’t get enough of space then this a great present. Not only for those who have yet to see the DVD but also those keen to ponder the magnitude of creation on a starry night.
