Millions of people around the Commonwealth are expected to participate in 'Big Jubilee Lunches' on the 3rd of June as part of The Queen’s Diamond Jubilee Year Celebrations. The specially written Grace that is to be said at the start of each of these lunches was published today, Commonwealth Day.
Written by The Queen's Chaplain, the Grace is set to be televised at the start of the Big Jubilee Lunch.
A spokesperson for the Church of England said: "We have made the Grace available for use and hope that everyone will enjoy using it as much as they enjoy celebrating the Jubilee."
The Big Lunch is now in its fourth year and the organiser, the Eden Project, is delighted it is now an official part of the Jubilee celebrations. The Eden Project has asked HOPE, a charity that encourages local churches to do mission together in their local communities, to help mobilise churches to get actively involved in the Jubilee Big Lunch.
Roy Crowne, executive director of HOPE, today said: "The wording of the Grace is great. It builds community, acknowledges Jesus Christ and gives recognition to The Queen for her services to the country. It is a well put together piece for the occasion."
Presentation versions of the Grace may be downloaded from the HOPE website.
