Creating a Life with God Review

I’m not quite sure whether to best sum this book up as a lovely beginners guide to different prayer practices, or a fantastic little activity sampler. Whichever it is, it is nicely done. Short simple chapters explain the prayer activity in an easy to understand way, followed by a brief historical context highlighted through a proponent of the method (referenced to in the book as our ‘travelling companion’). There are then some activities and insights into how to undertake the prayer activity.

I like the fact that it tries to give methods not only for individual use of these activities but also, where possible, as a group activity too. It’s a really nice and well-presented book which can make a wonderful guide to trying some ancient but relevant alternative methods of prayer. The appendix, with its individual and group step-by-step models for the practices, makes this a really helpful book that serves many purposes. Also a great small group study series in my estimation.
