The church where novelist sisters Charlotte and Emily Bronte are buried has had to continue its fundraising after the cost of repairs rose by £50,000 last week.
St Michael and All Angels Parish Church in Haworth, West Yorkshire, has already raised £64,000 and secured £98,000 in funding from English Heritage.
Following the news that the church is still £50,000 short, Rev Peter Mayo-Smith has said the church will continue to fundraise and is "in discussions" with an architect and English Heritage.
Revd Mayo-Smith said: "We've got to look at what we can do but we've got to continue the fundraising because we need to close the gap."
"The work will start, it's just a question of how much work we can do, but I'm confident we can get it done."
